Ever noticed your little brother (or of course Big Brother) playing around with your top-secret data? Ever heard him saying: "Should I empty the trash?"
Then, my little program is for you!
"HideFolders" is a drag-and-drop application to hide folders (hence the name).
"HideFolders" can make the folders visible again and it includes a simple password protection.
Oh, it's great, how can I use it??
Select the folders to hide and drop them onto HideFolders.
A dialog will ask you for the password (upper/lower case significant!!) You have to type it in two times to be sure that you didn't mistyped a letter. After giving the password HideFolders will create one document. The user can select the name and location with the save dialog. The document stores the names and locations of the hidden folders. Clicking on the document will give you the password dialog; if you enter the correct password then it will show/hide the folders, i.e. it toggles the state of visibility.
Of course you can specify more than one file, for example, if more than one user want to hide folders. Give them easy to read names, like: "Show/Hide - Jochen", or "Show/Hide Spindlers Plans".
In short terms:
-Drag the folders on the Icon
- Type in the same password to times
- A file will be saved, that can show and hide the folders
You can even hide files or Aliases (if you drag Aliases, the original files/folders will be hidden, not the Aliases).
System Requirements
HideFolders requires System 7 or later and a nice and intelligent user like you are ;-) .
Limits
It doesn't work over a network and on a floppy disk. This is not my fault, it's a limit of the MacOS.
Also, make sure, that your "Hide/Show" - File isn't located in that folder, you want to hide.
New Features
I've worked a long time on it, I listened carefully at your wishes and here it is: The new version.
- Added a better password protection, i.e. it's nearly impossible to crack your password file
- User-Inteface enhancements with a new nice(?) logo
- Completely rewritten!
- Minor bug fixes.
- Now impossible to hide Volumes. (Don't laugh, some people tried it...)
- Possible to hide files.
- Bullets instead of the clear password on screen
- Only one File that shows and hides the folders
- I removed my signature because thousend of users analysed my caracter using it...
- It has become smaller!!! (I really payed a lot of work to keep it small, I hate this big monsters ala MS - WXrd)
- And last but not least: and much more ;-)
Who is responsible??
Ok, it's not me. No warrantys. I would start big disclaimers, but my english is not very well (as you probably :) already noticed). So: "Please forgive me..." But I won't hurt you, I've choosen a very clean way to do it. Nothing will happen with your datas or so... It is also not VERY save. Programmers or crazy people like that could show the folders again, also if they don't know the password.
What does I have to pay for it?
Why do you have to pay? Because it only runs 20 times!
You only have to pay sensational $5 for it!!! (If you use itﾉ) These people who have send me for the previous version a postcard will get it for free (if they send me one before the 11/22/95)! So send 5 US-Dollars to
